Blue Belt Requirements

All Previous Belt Requirements:

All techniques shown from this point on must
demonstrate some type of finishing move or takedown on every self defense scenario.

Kicks:  Inside to Out crescent kick: Outside to In crescent kick: Axe kick

Self Defense Techniques:

Defense against Club attacks:

Overhead-  Click here for video
1) Side step to the attacking arm moving to the outside of the attackers center.
2) While you step out you need to also follow the attackers arm with your knife hand down into the attackers midsection.
3) When the attacker starts to bring his arm back up you will hold his arm in a wrist turn out grip.
4) Execute the wrist turn out throw.
5) Once the attacker is on the ground the most important thing to remember is to maintain control of the weapon arm.

Outside In-  Click here for video
1) Step in when attacker starts swinging motion with your forearms up.
2) Block the arm as it comes towards you and then place your inside arm up around the base of the attackers neck while turning in the direction of the attack.
3) As you turn you need to drop your weight down so that the attackers balance is broken into the direction that you want them to fall.
4) Guide the attacker to the ground and then maintain control of the attacking arm.

Across-  Click here for video
1) When the initial movement begins you need to step in towards the attackers outside so that you get behind the weapon and make sure to have your hands up so that you can block the arm with your forearms.
2) The hand that is closest to the attackers head needs to go on the shoulder of the attacker while also placing the other hand on the wrist of the attacker and secure both of you hands firmly.
3) Execute an Ulna press. You may also choose to do the Wrist turn out throw this will be left up to you to decide which one you would like to do. The main thing we will look for is that you can maintain control of the attacker throughout.

Defense against Knife attacks:

Overhead-  Click here for video

1) Execute this defense the same as you did for the Overhead club attack.

Outside to in-  Click here for video
1) when the attack begins you will need to move in on your opponent and block the weapon arm with you forearms.
2) After the block secure the attackers wrist with your hand and execute a backwards elbow strike to the attackers face.
3) Place this same arm over the attackers arm that you have control of with the other hand and secure this hand also to the wrist.
4) Step out away from your attackers center while keeping the hands low of both you and the attacker.
5) Now perform an Ulna press.

Across-  Click here for video
1) Execute this defense the same as you did for the Across club attack. Again you may choose to execute either the Wrist turnout throw or the Ulna press. This will be at your discretion but you must maintain control of your attacker.

Thrust-  Click here for video
1) When the attack begins move to the outside of your attackers attacking arm and secure the wrist of your attacker with both of your hands and pull the attacker forward in the direction of his initial attack.
2) Now that you are facing the direction of your attackers attack and you have his wrist secured firmly in your hands,

3) execute the wrist turnout throw.
