Hello, my name is Jason, and I am the
Chief instructor here at USA Martial Arts Academy. I have been the
Head Instructor since we opened. I have been involved in teaching the
Martial Arts for ten years. Along the way I have been fortunate to
meet some the pioneers of American Martial Arts, for example: Joon
Rhee, the man that brought Tae Kwon Do to America; Chuck Norris,
martial arts pioneer and movie star; Bill Superfoot Wallace,
Kickboxing legend; Joe Lewis, the greatest karate fighter of
all time; and the man that presented my Black belt to me Grand
Master J. Pat Burleson, 1st American Heavyweight
champion.
The style of martial arts that we teach is comprehensive. We don’t
just teach one philosophy but more of an eclectic style. We feel that
there is no perfect singular style. You need to be well versed in the
different ranges of fighting so you are better prepared for a

variety of situations. Just
like our motto says, "Don’t get beat by what you didn’t know!"
My teaching style
is one that is appealing to most. I try to find a way of communicating
to all of the students so that each one can understand what is being
taught. I have a great respect of the traditional values of the
martial arts and some of the traditional training. I also feel that
just because it has been this way for several years that we don’t need
to be bound by it. There are certain things that have advanced over
time and the martial arts needs to do this as well. I have a
background in personal training so I like to come up with innovative
ways of doing the same techniques so that it stays interesting. I also
like to find certain techniques that will apply to our training that
is from other styles. This keeps training fun and it expands your
vocabulary of knowledge. I am not a drill sergeant but I do believe
that people have to be pushed in order to achieve their best. There
are some people that can do this on their own without having to be
motivated. On the other hand there are people that are capable of
doing much more than they would normally, they just need someone that
is willing to believe in them so they can believe in themselves.
